The very first reader question I answered when I started my monthly Q&A in 2021 was about the three pieces of advice I would give to my younger self. I thought it was kind of sweet how genuinely excited I was to receive a question and put real care into answering it as thoughtfully and helpfully as I could.
In the meantime, there’s a lot I’ve answered. From weird personal habits, to role models, and beyond. More than once, I’ve been surprised by how thoughtful most of these questions were.
Although I didn’t realize it at the time, the Q&As have helped me grow as a writer and think more about how to tell a story, and how to make sure readers care about the story.
I have also gotten better at writing in a language that is not my native tongue. When I read back pieces from 2021 and compare them to what I have written more recently, the difference is striking—it is almost unrecognizable.
Now, four years later, I feel like the world has changed a little bit, and so have I. I’ve loved answering these questions for this long and I still do, but I’ve come to realize that I’m ready for a new challenge.
As this platform grows every day, I feel a responsibility to grow with it—and to continue to evolve as a writer and storyteller, and bring more intentional projects too life.
So, moving forward, I’m committing to publishing more mini essays each week. I’ve been sharing two essays weekly these past couple of months, and I’ll now be adding a third. In time, when the moment feels right, The Decoded will grow into a daily newsletter.
I’ll continue publishing two Q&As per week until the end of the year. After that, I’ll be closing the Q&A chapter and focusing entirely on the weekly mini essays. All mini essays will continue to be available here on this platform, where they always belonged.
