Perfectionism can be an expensive way to hide from the work that matters.
It’s kind of attractive: if we don’t ship, we can’t be judged. If we aren’t judged, we will be safe.
But perfection has a way of waiting for the stars to align. And while it waits, nothing gets made.
An (almost) daily newsletter—the one you’re reading right now doesn’t allow that kind of waiting. It’s the ultimate antidote. It’s a commitment to the clock. When the deadline arrives, the work must leave the building.
The publish button gets tapped not because it is ready, but because today is the day. This shift in mindset forces us to realize that our work is simply a gift we are offering in this moment. Just as it is, right now.
By shipping every day, we kill the “preciousness” of our ideas.
While some are still polishing a draft, protecting a reputation that hasn’t been earned yet, others have already spent 30 days learning in public, where the friction of the world is actually sharpening them.
Not because they’re better, but because they’re in motion. And over time, motion compounds.
Flawless might be a myth that keeps us small. But generosity spreads.
We do the work to make it as good as we can, and when the time comes, we hit send—and let it go.
Let’s just ship it.
Thank you for reading! The question of today:
What small gift could you share today to serve others?
