The Commitment of Writing a Weekly Personal Letter (and Why I Love It)

If you’ve ever thought about writing a weekly letter, let me tell you—it’s a bit like having a coffee date with your thoughts every single week. Sure, there are moments when it feels like the inspiration fairy is on vacation (I know, rude), and other times when the ideas just flow like a river after a rainstorm. But no matter what, showing up every week to write—that’s the commitment that turns something small into something meaningful.

I remember the first time I committed to writing a weekly letter. I had the excitement of a kid opening a new journal—bright-eyed, ready to spill all the thoughts onto the page. The first few days were easy. The words flowed. Then came the “what do I say today?” moments. The blank screen. At times it felt a little like sending love letters to the universe.

But here’s the thing: in the act of writing every single day, something special happens. It stops being about getting it perfect and starts being about connection. I write because it’s thursday today. Not because I had the inspiration this morning.

Every morning, I sit down, ready to send a little bit of myself out into the world, no matter how messy or polished it is. And while there’s a small part of me that wonders whether anyone will even read it, there’s a bigger part of me that believes the real gift isn’t just in the writing—it’s in the consistency, the showing up, the commitment.

I often think of my daily newsletter like a friendship. You don’t just call someone when you’ve got something important to say. You call them because you want to check in. You want to share the little moments. And guess what? In a world where everything is so fast-paced and fleeting, taking a moment to slow down and check in with someone, even through words on a screen, feels like a warm hug on a chilly day.

The truth is, I look forward to writing these letters. It’s my chance to pause, reflect, and share what’s on my mind—no filters, no fancy polish. Just real thoughts. Some days, it’s about something as big as chasing dreams. Other days, it’s about the little joys: like finding the perfect cup of coffee or getting lost in a book for an hour. And sometimes, it’s just about writing my way through a tough day and saying, “Hey, I see you, and you’re not alone.”

So, yeah, writing a daily newsletter can feel like a big commitment—like waking up every morning and sending a piece of your heart out into the world. But honestly? The payoff is beyond what I could have imagined. Not just in terms of the incredible people who’ve become part of this journey, but in the quiet satisfaction of showing up for myself, day after day.

Because when you commit to something this personal, it’s never just about the words you write. It’s about the connection you create, the stories you tell, and the simple truth that you were here, you cared enough to share a piece of your day, and someone, somewhere, is listening.

And isn’t that what we all want, at the end of the day? To be heard, understood, and to share a bit of ourselves in the process?
