Q&A: The Best Countries To Visit

Q&A: The Best Countries To Visit

Every month, I publish an answer to a reader’s question. Here’s a transcript of my answer to the reader’s question about riding a motorbike.

Hi Lisanne, I wonder what are the best countries that you’ve visited so far?

That’s a beautiful question — and one that doesn’t have a single answer, because the “best” country to visit depends so much on what you’re craving for.

But if I had to give you a personal answer, two countries come to mind that always have a place in my traveler’s heart: Morocco and Madagascar.

Morocco is like walking through a living storybook – the scent of spices in the souks of Marrakech, the vast silence of the Sahara under a starry sky, the historic streets, the colorful chaos and calm of blue-washed Chefchaouen. You can drive for an hour and pass three different landscapes, and while the sandstorms are something to get used to, it’s a place that both overwhelms and soothes.

And then there’s Madagascar, a world unto itself – literally. It’s a land where time stretches, and nature has evolved in the most unexpected ways. Lemurs leap through ancient forests, baobab trees tower like giants into painted sunsets, and the coastlines are magical. Madagascar is not polished or predictable – I felt it was raw, wild and powerful. It is for the traveler who longs to be surprised.

If you are looking for a journey that leaves an impression that goes a little further than a typical holiday destination – then Morocco and Madagascar are two places I will not soon forget.
