For this list of my favorite feminist books, I’ve chosen titles that I think are worth reading. I especially enjoy books that have themes of feminism woven into them—so much so that the titles below touch on the topic rather than explicitly explaining what feminism is.
These are the kinds of books that show rather than tell—stories that raise questions about gender, power, identity, and autonomy through lived experiences, subtle moments, or powerful storytelling. In that sense, the books on this list don’t necessarily set out to explain what feminism is, but they engage with it in meaningful and thought-provoking ways. They reflect diverse perspectives, challenge societal norms, and, in their own ways, contribute to the broader feminist conversation. Whether through fiction, memoir, or essays, each of these works offers something valuable to anyone interested in the many layers and expressions of feminism.
