Books Written by Tina Knowles
Tina Knowles has published two books, 23 years apart, and they read almost like two different women. The first is a glossy style guide from the height of Destiny’s Child fame. The second is a number-one bestselling memoir written after a divorce, a cancer diagnosis, and decades of watching her daughters become two of the most scrutinized women on earth — the book where she finally gets to be the subject instead of the stylist. Below is her complete bibliography, in order.

Where to start
Start with Matriarch
Unless you’re specifically hunting for early-2000s Destiny’s Child ephemera, Matriarch (2025) is the book. It’s the one that’s an actual memoir, the one that was a number-one bestseller and an Oprah pick, and the one that will tell you who Tina Knowles is rather than just what she dressed her daughter’s group in.
Destiny’s Style: Bootylicious Fashion, Beauty, and Lifestyle Secrets From Destiny’s Child
Co-written with Zoe Alexander and published by HarperCollins, this early book arrived at the height of Destiny’s Child’s fame and shares the shopping, sewing, and styling choices Knowles made as the group’s costume designer. It also includes home entertaining tips and family recipes, including the gumbo recipe Knowles has said Jay-Z has flown to Houston specifically to eat.
Matriarch: A MemoirStart here
Written with Kevin Carr O’Leary and published by One World in the US and Dialogue Books in the UK, Matriarch traces Knowles’s life from a 1950s Galveston childhood as the youngest of seven, through building a hair salon empire in Houston, styling Destiny’s Child, and raising Beyoncé and Solange. It debuted as the number-one New York Times bestseller and was selected by Oprah Winfrey for Oprah’s Book Club 2.0 in April 2025.
