Every month, I publish an answer to a reader’s question. Here’s a transcript of my answer to the reader’s question about riding a motorbike.
Hi Lisanne, I wonder what are the best countries that you’ve visited so far?
That’s a beautiful question — and one that doesn’t have just one answer, because the “best” country to visit depends so much on what you’re craving for.
But if I had to give you a personal answer, two countries come to mind that always feel like they belong in my traveler’s heart: Morocco and Madagascar.
Morocco is like walking through a living storybook — the scent of spices in the souks of Marrakech, the vast stillness of the Sahara under a sky full of stars, the colorful chaos and calm of blue-washed Chefchaouen. The sandstorms are something to get used to, and it’s a place that both overwhelms and soothes, often in the same breath. You don’t just visit Morocco — you feel it, from the warmth of its people to the rhythm of its history-rich streets.
And then there’s Madagascar, which is in a world of its own — literally. It’s a land where time stretches, and nature has evolved in the most unexpected ways. Lemurs leap through ancient forests, baobab trees reach like giants into painted sunsets, and the coastlines are pure magic. Madagascar is not polished or predictable — it’s raw, wild, and quietly powerful. It’s for the traveler who longs to be surprised.
If you’re seeking a journey that changes you, that leaves an imprint deeper than photographs — Morocco and Madagascar are two places my heart won’t easily forget.
