There’s a strange pride in being agreed with.
We say the obvious thing, to the obvious crowd, and mistake the reaction for impact.
Applause feels like proof. Likes feel like traction. But agreement is cheap when everyone in the room already thinks the same.
Easy wins train us to confuse noise with movement.
The work that actually shifts something rarely lands cleanly. It arrives a little awkward. It makes people lean back instead of lean in. It doesn’t get hooted — it gets tested.
Most meaningful ideas don’t fail because they’re wrong.
They stall because they weren’t safe enough to say out loud.
So maybe the question isn’t whether people will agree with you.
Maybe it’s whether you’re willing to be early, exposed, slightly uncomfortable.
Because fish in barrels don’t change direction.
People do.
