Our Women On The Ground is a book comprising a volume of essays that describe the unique challenges of several Arab and Middle Eastern female journalists, reporting from some of the most repressive countries in the world. The stories range from sexual harassment on the streets of Cairo to the challenges of traveling without a male relative in Yemen. The essays shed light on the various barriers that obstruct the freedom to engage in candid conversations with other women, whether it be within the confines of a Syrian medical clinic or on platforms like Whatsapp, where individuals may later become ISIS fighters, rebels, or pro-regime soldiers.
