I loved reading as a kid, and I’m grateful for the books I was able to read during those years. In a world where imagination can take children anywhere, books are the key to unlocking those adventures. Whether it’s the magic of a fairy tale, the excitement of a mystery, or the thrill of exploring new worlds, books help children grow, learn, and dream.
But not every child has access to the books that can ignite their imaginations and shape their futures. So where to donate books near me?
We’re working closely with local partners to ensure that the books we collect will go directly to the children who need them most. You can donate directly to the local drop-off points or send an email team [@] lisanneswart.com .

Donate Children’s Books Today
I’m reaching out to you and the rest of the community today with an invitation to support a meaningful cause: sharing gently used children’s books. At this time, we’re specifically focusing on Dutch children’s books, which have the potential to bring joy and enrichment to local children who might not otherwise have easy access to their own books.
Why Donate?
- Access to Stories: Books are gateways to creativity, education, and inspiration. By donating, you’re giving children the opportunity to explore new stories, learn about the world around them, and expand their imaginations.
- Encouraging Literacy: Early exposure to books is one of the best ways to support literacy development. Children who have access to books are more likely to develop strong reading skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives.
- A Love for Reading: When children are surrounded by books, they learn to love reading. Your donation can foster a lifelong love of books and learning in the next generation.
- Building Stronger Communities: By donating, you’re not just giving a book—you’re giving children the tools to succeed, dream big, and contribute to a brighter future. This is about building a stronger, more informed community for everyone.
What Books Are We Looking For?
We’re accepting children’s books in all conditions—from picture books to early readers to young adult novels. If they’re still in good condition, they can find a new home with a child who will appreciate them. Specifically, we’re looking for:
- Books in English or Dutch: We want to make sure children from different backgrounds have access to books in the languages they speak.
- Ages 0-18: From babies to teenagers, all children’s books are welcome.
- Any Genre: Whether it’s adventure, fantasy, educational, or picture books, all types of children’s literature are valuable!
How to Donate
Donating is easy! Here’s how you can get involved:
- Sort Through Your Bookshelves: Look for books that your child has outgrown or books you no longer need.
- Drop Them Off: Bring your books to the designated drop-off points (I’ve created a map for those living in The Netherlands). For questions, contact me by email.
- Spread the Word: Even if you can’t donate right now, you can help by sharing this message with friends, family, or colleagues. The more books, the better!
A Final Word: Thank You!
Your donation may seem like a small gesture, but for a child in need, it can make a world of difference. Every book you donate has the potential to inspire, educate, and bring joy to a child. Thank you for helping us make reading more accessible to all kids!
If you have any questions or need more information, feel free to reach out. We’re excited to work together to make a real impact in our community!
Let’s open the doors to imagination—one book at a time.
